Project goal

The goal of the project is to support and develop a modern, functional and up-to-date monitoring system that reflects the current needs of the client. It was necessary to completely ransfer the management of the Zabbix platform, optimize it and extend monitoring to new elements.

Realization

A certified DevOps team at Wesecon takes care of the overall implementation and platform support. In this case , our role was primarily to takeover the support of already implemented Zabbix. The project then continued with gradual platform optimization and further enhancements. Our cooperation includes consultations, management and subsequent implementation of various solutions.

In the near future, we will support the client in transitioning to a new version of Zabbix, which should once again improve monitoring capabilities in ČEPRO.

Implementation steps

• Analysis of the current state:
  We performed a detailed analysis of the existing Zabbix infrastructure at ČEPRO. This analysis revealed areas where system efficiency and performance could be improved.
• Implementation:
  Based on the analysis, we designed and implemented solutions that included expansion of monitoring and new functions according to client's requirements.
• Extension of monitoring::
  New client requirements were implemeted into Zabbix platform. These included monitoring of new infrastructure elements and applications.

Monitoring capabilities of Zabbix for ČEPRO

• Infrastructure:
  Zabbix monitors specific applications as well as physical and virtual servers, including their load and capacity.
  
  Network elements are monitored for availability, throughput and health, ensuring overall network functionality.
• Applications:
  Zabbix can handle databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, DB2, and SAP Hana. Monitors load, connection counts, errors and various other metrics.
  
  Zabbix also monitors containerization platforms, web servers like Apache and Nginx, and various information systems.
• Other devices::
  Monitoring includes payment gateways, temperature sensors, scales and other endpoints.

Project results

Thanks to the detailed overview provided by the Zabbix platform, it is possible to eliminate and predict service outages. Therefore it provides higher efficiency in operation and supervision of all elements. This contributes to process optimization and allows more efficient use of server resources.
